This thread is to outline my thought processes as I write my RPG I do this because it helps my thought process to write out what went into my thinking as I wrote.


Part 1 Civilations and Enemies


As I started this game my first thought was what it was going to be about. So I m,entally went through all the many RPGs I had played and Landed on my favorite place whicch was The Kingdom of Zeal from Chrono Trigger after all what is more intriging than a Floating continant?

After I decided that I had to figure out why the continant was floating in the first place after all nothing is more annoying to me in anime and games than when there are all these unexplained things that they never touch on.

My first thought was haveing it be because a race thought themselves better than everyone else but that had been done to death.

Than I thougt about going with an ancient civilation that lifted there cities above the clouds only to have ther ecivilation nearly destroyed by monsters were created through there own hubris but that hit to close to Stargate Atlantis.

I finally decided to use a bit of everything makeing a semi-avanced race that was attacked by an unknown enemy raising a conteniant from the land as a last hope in preserving there civilation.


Thats when I hit a snag what was makeing the continant float?

I had a couple potential choices here Magic, Technolgy, or Magi-Technolgy the problem came when I realised that no matter which I choose they had all been used numerous times in other RPGs but they were my only real choice or were they?

To further understand my decision you first have to understand one of the primary points in all RPGs that use Magi-Technolgy and that is that Magic leads to to the creation of technolgy that can enhance it's use it may not seem like it but it is true if you follow the backstory of RPGs that use it.

This made me think what if I were to go the opposite way? so I created a perfectly normal civilation that created a technolgy that allowed them to use Magic.


So what would be the representation of this Technologicaly ceated Magic?

I am sad to say that I couldn't think of anything original or diffrent here so I went with Crystals although I did put a twist on it in haveing the crystals energies alter the celluar structure of the people allowing them to access magical energies without the use of said crystals the upside of this was that I could use these energies as an excuse to add enemies to the conteniant in the form of magicaly altered animals.


Now that I had the basis of the story I neaded an enemy so that got me to thinking what happened to the surface?

Here I was originally going to go with a total elimination of all humans on the surface but decided that would have limited the scope of the story since the only use of it would have been a giant dungeon.

So I had to add humans in the mix and again I ran into a problem after all how could I add humans and still have the monsters roaming around? oh sure I could have just done what other games have done and just had them not being able to enter the towns through some unknow method but personally I thought that was a copout.

So I decided to have there be no safe places on the surface the few humans left there would be completely at the mercies of the monsters and haveing the people there in a constant state of fear gives me alot of potential for sidequests.


Part 2 Hero's and Villians

Now I neaded Some hero's and to do this I turned to one of my favorite pass times Anime Each Heros Personality is based off of an anime character I will give you a list.

Hero is Based on Louie from Rune Soldier Louie

Eris is based off of Afura-Man From El-hazard.

Healer is based on Hinata from Naruto.

Shifter is based on Byakuya from Bleach

Machina (Ma-kin-a) is based off of Ifurita from El-Hazard.

Mechnist is basically a Male version of Washu from Tenchi Muyo.

Brawler is Actually based on a combination of two diffrent characters think a female combination of Zaraki Kempachi from

Bleach and Kakashi from Naruto.

Ranger is based off of Zolo from One Piece.


Now that I had my heros figured out I neaded a Villian.

Now the majority of anime villians fall into one of three catagories fools, scheamers, or powerhouses as I was pondering my choices going over the anime villians I most dispise for this I turned to a character that is the very defination of a Bastard Gendo Ikari from Evangelion and he was perfect following his personality allowed me to add a list of things including a scantly dressed minion that he was willing to sacrifice to accomplish his goals.


Part 3 Worldmaps and Airships

You may not think it but it is actually very difficult to make an airship that can be used to travel the worldmap and that is because you actually need to make Two identical worldmaps one for you to walk in that allows your players to enter towns and dungeons and another that doesen't so your airship can fly over said towns and dungeons.

Once I got that down I hit a big snag and that is how to make the airship show up where you land it to do this I have two ways.

Way 1. I would have designated spots on each map where you could land your airship the upside of this is that it is quick and relitively easy to do the downside is that it limits the places you can land.

Way 2. Would involve placeing triggers on every landable surface on both maps than linking them together so that it would show your airship when you land the upside of this is that it would allow you to travel and land anywhere the downside is that it would take forever because I would have to place thousands of triggers.

I thing Metallix is doing a good job, it seems very interesting.

Today is very hard to came with something new, original. Something that hasnt been here yet. Cuz when you go to the very detail everithing resembles something.
Authors are having a hard time today and it will be only harder as the time goes on cuz more and more stories will be told and so it will be harder to think out something unique.
Im encountering this promblem very often. Im trying to write a book and it makes angry each time I devise something cool and later I find out that it alredy was used or it alredy happened somewhere else.
The stroy line shoud be not too much complicated but also not too simple. Its very hard to decide how shoud the events go on and then turn out.
Same trouble came with characters. Milions of characters are alredy existing. I had a good head ache when I was creating those for my book.

Yep it is downright hard to create solely original characters nowadays your best bet is to take existing characters and model new ones on them.
